Well, first I want to call attention for the language issue.
Today I read the third proof of Fairies and Strawberries, and i will admit it sounds like a rich english, which i don't really speak or write, so before we start to talk in bad english i will remember and thank very much these 3 people who helped this book to communicate exactly how i wanted to, considering that i speak much better in Portuguese, my mother language.
Mikolav was the first one, he is a poet, most propably from south London, but performing very often at Fournier St. E1 Guy Hilton's Gallery at that time around 2006. I asked him to read the first manuscript which he eventually did. He told me that was a little too Latin, I little too dramatic for the english molds, and as well too many 'ands' and 'thats' and 'a kind of' etc. He also laughed at the word 'pedipalps' belonging to one of my characters, and still belonging. After that I met Heather Prince, who had a look at my illustrations and considered a chance to have one of her books illustrated by me, she had it done at the same time she revised my book for the second time adding valuable consistence to it. She, for example changed the way to express a felling of one of my characters. Originally he ‘almost died’ but Heather told me that ‘a sudden pain in his stomach’ would be more apropriated.
And finally, Anthony Doyle, an english academic revisor living in São Paulo. He added grammatical perfection and a balance of what’s acceptable in spoken English or what’s wrong in formal English.
